Classic Movie Marathons

Bazar de Hotel de Ville or Le BHV

Last week was a whirlwind of activities. I watched lots of movies, uploaded some photos to Running, and walked around Paris.

New in the gallery are bibs from running. You might be wondering what those are. For someone like me, who had sports activities taken away by various pressures at a young age, these bibs mean a lot. On the bright side, I am one of the few fortunate ones to run at different places, but for many in India, the opportunity remains a silent wish.

I tried various combinations for uploading videos to my website but found that due to some mismatch between my digital camera and computer, I couldn’t achieve the precise result I was looking for. Here’s one from Paris – Metro. These are a few of the musicians who play for free inside the metro. Some are great, playing to gather a good number of audiences, especially in Châtelet, the busiest metro stop as it is the bullseye of the Paris Metro Network. Others play for small money in the metro compartments, which can sometimes sound harsh on the ears.

Most importantly, I have watched a lot of classic and good movies recently. Here’s a list I borrowed – Merci, François!

  • A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)
  • Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958)
  • Suddenly, Last Summer (1959)
  • Bringing Up Baby (1938)
  • Arsenic and Old Lace (1944)
  • Dracula (1931)
  • The Rains Came (1939) – A movie set in British India
  • An American in Paris (1951)
  • Sunset Boulevard (1950) – A Hollywood Story
  • All About Eve (1950) – A Broadway Story
  • What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)
  • Dead Again (1991)
  • Howards End (1992)
  • The Piano (1993)
  • Phone Booth (2002)
  • A Grand Day Out with Wallace and Gromit (1989)
  • Wallace & Gromit in The Wrong Trousers (1993)
  • Wallace & Gromit in A Close Shave (1995)
  • Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)

Watching these classics has been a delightful journey through different eras and genres. Each film has its unique charm, and it’s fascinating to see the evolution of cinema over the decades.

In between movie marathons, I’ve been enjoying my runs around Paris. The city is a runner’s dream with its scenic routes and beautiful landmarks. Every run feels like an adventure, whether it’s along the Seine, through the bustling streets, or in the serene parks.

Paris, with its rich history and vibrant culture, never ceases to amaze me. From the free-spirited metro musicians to the iconic landmarks, there’s always something new to discover. And the joy of running through this beautiful city adds a special touch to my daily routine.

Reflecting on my activities, I realize how much these experiences mean to me. Running, movies, and exploring Paris – each brings its own joy and sense of fulfillment. It’s the simple pleasures that make life beautiful, and I’m grateful for every moment.

So, whether it’s the thrill of a good run, the magic of a classic film, or the charm of a Parisian walk, life is full of wonderful experiences waiting to be embraced.
